Ms. Chan is the Director of Orchestra and Choirs at San Mateo High School. A Bay Area native and passionate music educator, Ms. Chan brings over 25 years of teaching experience to the classroom. She has worked extensively as a music clinician throughout the Peninsula, working with choirs, orchestras, and bands to help students and directors strengthen ensemble skills and refine musical performance.
Ms. Chan holds both her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music from UCLA, graduating cum laude. In addition to her academic achievements, she is an accomplished violinist with broad performing experience. She has performed extensively as a recitalist, chamber musician, and orchestral violinist. Her work has taken her across international stages as well as professional ensembles in both Los Angeles and the Bay Area, in a wide range of chamber and orchestral settings.
Prior to joining the faculty at San Mateo High School, Ms. Chan directed both choir and orchestra programs at the high school level, where she helped build vibrant, student-centered ensembles. She is passionate about empowering students to reach their full musical potential—encouraging deep listening, purposeful playing, and a lifelong connection to music.
