SMHS Instrumental Ensembles

San Mateo High's renowned music program includes five instrumental classes and one additional ensemble. Participation in Chamber Orchestra, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, Marching Band, or Symphonic Band electives fulfills the VAPA (Visual and Performing Arts) graduation requirement. Pep Band does not meet as a formal class during the school day, but instead is composed of musicians from our Concert, Marching, and Symphonic bands who perform together at rallies, home football games, and more.
