Bobby Rathbone has been an instrumental music teacher at all levels, 5th grade-College Ensembles, for over 20 years and is entering his first year at San Mateo High School. Previously, Mr. Rathbone has held positions in his native North Carolina, New England, and Portland, OR. During his time at these positions, the ensembles were regular participants at state level performance festivals as well as active community performers.
Mr. Rathbone holds a Masters in Music Education with an emphasis in Wind Band Conducting from Rhode Island College, and a Bachelors at Music and Masters in the Arts of Teaching from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He maintains professional memberships in NAfME and state MEA and Band Directors Associations, as well as alumni status in Phi Mu Alpha-Sinfonia Fraternity. In his spare time, Mr. Rathbone is a regular performer with the ComedySportz-San Jose improv comedy troop. Every so often, he also appears in scripted shows, having performed in shows such as The Hot Mikado, Lend Me A Tenor, and Tomfoolery, as well as having conducted pits for Legally Blonde, Annie, Matilda, Frozen, and Little Women.
